Fall 2005 Newsletter
Greetings from Bikram Yoga - Fremont St!
Here are a few upcoming events that we’d like to share with you...
- Our community classes have been a great success! On the 2nd Saturday of each month at 11am we offer an extra class. Bring friends and or family members. They practice free and for each person you bring in, you get a free week of yoga for yourself or to give away! Our next community class is this week (9/10/05).
Our first ever "Karma for Kids" fundraiser is coming up. It’s a great way to help the community and to step up your yoga practice at the same time.
To participate, students agree to attend 30, 60, or 90 classes between September 15th and December 15th and obtain pledges to raise money for Camp Okizu, a non-profit organization to benefit kids with cancer and their families.
Participants are eligible for a special 3 month unlimited yoga package for only $200! The person who raises the most money will receive a free Yearly Unlimited Package! For more details visit the Karma for Kids web site at: www.okizu.org/k4kids/k4k.htm
The Oregon Regionals for the 3rd Annual International Yoga Asana Championship will be held on Sunday November 13th at 1pm at Concordia University at 2811 NE Holman St. in Portland OR.
It is Bikram’s goal to see yoga as an Olympic event in the near future. All yoga students, regardless of ability, should participate in this auspicious event to help make this vision a reality. There is no such thing as "not being ready!"
Yoga competition has been a part of Indian culture for hundreds of years. The focus is not competing against others, but rather challenging yourself with the goal of improving your practice.
There will be coaching sessions every Saturday at the Fremont St. studio after the morning class. (Coaching sessions will be on Sundays on community class weekends).
We hope this message finds you in good health, and we look forward to seeing you in class soon!
